Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

The short version

"Hearline does not collect, store, or transmit any of your data. Everything runs locally inside your browser. Nothing ever leaves your device."

What data we collect

None. Hearline does not collect any personal information, browsing history, reading habits, or any other data about you or your device.

How the extension works

Hearline reads the text on your screen using your browser's built-in Web Speech API. This runs entirely on your device. No text from any webpage is ever sent to any external server.

Local storage

Hearline saves your preferences such as reading speed and voice selection using chrome.storage.local. This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension.

Third parties

Hearline does not share any data with third parties because it does not collect any data in the first place. We have no advertising partners, analytics providers, or data brokers.

Children's privacy

Hearline is safe for users of all ages. Because we collect no data whatsoever, there is no personal information at risk regardless of the age of the user.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Any future changes will maintain our core commitment to collecting zero user data.
